Let Me Help

Not only is Matthew an independent little boy, he also wants to help you do what ever it is that you happen to be doing. He often helps his mama unload the clothes out of the laundry basket. Unfortunately, he has become quite fond of throwing the clothes onto the floor whether they are or are not folded. Below are some more examples of Matthew helping around the house.
Picking up things his Daddy has left laying around
Making the bed (with Sadie)

Steppin & Clappin

In the weeks since the last post Matthew has made some big strides. First of all, he has learned to clap.
Clap your hands!
But the bigger milestone has been Matthew turning loose and walking all by himself. It started with a few quick steps and now he will walk a dozen steps or more without hanging on. Of course, crawling is still much faster, which makes finding the proper motivation to walk somewhat problematic. For example, if Matthew really wants something such as his juice, he is less likely to walk to you to get it as he is to drop down and scoot your way in a flash.
Matthew started by standing at the couch about 4 ft behind him. He was retrieving the camera case.
He walked all the way to the camera!
Matthew has also started eating more adult food, eggs, grits, taters, bread, but nothing beats the heat quite like fruit chillers sorbet!

Travelin' Man

For the fourth weekend in a row, Matthew hit the road. He went to see his cousin Ariel as she was graduating from High School. Since he needed to be in the Charleston Area, his mama thought a visit to the Isle of Palms would be a great Memorial Day weekend. So at a little over 8 months, Matthew made his first beach trip.
Ocean water is dramatically different than bath water
He really enjoyed the tidal pools
His little pool provided nice shade, and unlike his daddy and Aunt Devin, Matthew did not get burned.
Sand: wet or dry he liked the feel of it, and had to taste it from time to time.
Teething on a sea shell
He also made his first pool visit.
Everyone had a great time on the trip and only wished that more family could have gone. Undoubtedly, there will be more beach and pool excursions in Matthew's future.
