Lil' Cowboy

After some time at the Jones farm in Alabama two weeks ago, Matthew spent a weekend in South Carolina. The highlight of this past weekend was a horse show in Gilbert. Before her number was called, Danielle was kind enough to let Matthew warm up her barrel horse, Buck.
Look at Me!
Turn him loose Daddy.
Matthew knew right away to hang on to the saddle horn. Plus it's okay to ride barefoot when your feet don't touch the stirrups. Matthew took a little trot around the pasture showing off for everybody, he was very excited and only cried when the ride stopped (he wanted to keep going).
All that riding gets mighty dusty.....
...Builds up an appetite and tires you out, too.

Waking Up

Matthew has been feeling better and sleeping better the last few nights. He is also playing so hard during the day that he is wearing himself out. Mornings are an adventure. He needs his diaper changed, he's thirsty, he's hungry, and he most likely isn't ready to change out of his pajamas or into anything else. But once he is awake, he's ready to start the day.
Sleeping after a morning meal.
Despite the lights and noise, he's out.
Awake and Happy!

Wave of the Future

Just this week Matthew has started to wave bye-bye. It started one morning when his father was leaving for work. His right arm was moving up and down with bend in the wrist and a flex in his fingers. It is still pretty infrequent and he certainly won't wave on command. He is still learning when to wave. Matthew won't wave when he is leaving, but may wave when you are leaving, or when you are taking out the trash, or when you are going to the bathroom. Although his first couple of waves were of the more adult, finger-outward facing variety. He quickly learned that it is much more fun to wave with his fingers waving back towards himself.
Matthew is also interested in moving the rugs in the house, or at least trying to find something under the rugs.
Heading to the camera with carrots still on his face.
He's figured out what the camera is and wants to see his picture.
