Wordy

Matthew has been talking a lot more lately. If you do not understand exactly what he is saying, he will most likely keep repeating it until you pick up on what he is trying to say. Lately his parents have been trying to teach him "please" and "thank you"; he is getting better but right now it sounds like "peas" and "tank you". Some time Matthew is stubborn and will refuse to say please, but there is no doubt that he knows what it means, because if he wants to do something he is not allowed to do (like climbing on top of unstable objects) he doesn't hesitate to point and say PLEASE.
Please can I play with my puzzles.
Matthew went to a professional bull riding event in Augusta last weekend. He had great seats and could watch all the bulls before they entered the chutes. He was very pleased every time he could point at the bulls, so "moo", and be correct. Matthew also made sure to tell every rider "uh-oh" when they were bucked off, whether it was after an 8 second ride or not. There were also dog-dog acts at the bull riding which did a good job of keeping the little boy entertained.
In addition to saying "please" he has also gotten good at "cheese" for the camera. Matthew is having fun and learning new words, and new tricks, all the time.

Still Frozen

Four days after the biggest snow storm of his life, Matthew's yard still looks like this:
However, the boy has taken full advantage of the local shut down.
Touring the neighborhood, showing off his snow stomping skills
Hanging out with the high school girls who have been out of school all week
Mama also took Matthew sledding
After he comes inside to warm up, Matthew makes sure to constantly remind his parents that the fireplace is HOT (good boy). The he waves his hand like he is fanning and blows "pfoo, pfoo" because that's also what you do when the grits are HOT at breakfast.
The inflatable fire truck ball pit has also kept Matthew entertained when it is much too cold to be outside for very long.

January 10, 2011

The snow started falling in Watkinsville a little after 9 last night and by morning there was 5-6 inches on the ground. Matthew sensed that his parents were planning to sleep late with the roads in bad condition, so he was up bright and early. After getting bundled up, Matthew charged out into the snow.
Let's go!
Matthew's favorite part was knocking snow off of things, like the shrubs. He would just knock the powder down and laugh; then do it again.
After lunch and a nap, the nice fluffy snow had a 1/4" of ice covering it thanks to the sleet. Matthew likes to play in the laundry hamper inside. So his parents improvised a redneck sled for outside
Watching Daddy shovel the back patio from the warm inside view.

Two Thousand, Eleven. One Louder!

It's a New Year and Matthew is showing off all his new moves. He is following in the footsteps of John Eubanks, a professional tree-climber made famous by Jerry Clower, and will climb anything he can get his fingernails and/or toenails sunk into. One of his favorite things to climb onto, is horseback.
Sitting tall in the saddle
Horse shows also mean tractors, dirt, and sometimes even music; he also got to holler and cheer for his Mama and Aunt D.
Matthew got his long amber tinted locks trimmed recently.
Mama got her hair cut first, and then held Matthew for his turn.
The hair dryer makes Matthew laugh and run around
He was under the weather and didn't get to enjoy the recent Watkinsville snow storm.
But he still managed to entertain himself with all his new Christmas toys, and a couple of old favorites
Happy Belated New Year Everybody! This one should be even better, and louder than the last.
